Nimesh Shrestha

Biography

Nimesh Shrestha is a filmmaker based in Kathmandu who believes in the power of visual storytelling to change perspectives. From a young age of 16, after being introduced to mobile phones, he began making short comedy videos. However, he soon realized that his true passion lay in filmmaking and decided to pursue it by joining Oscar International College (College of Film Studies).

During his college days, Nimesh excelled in filmmaking and received third prize for his first short film "Choice" in the ‘We are all Connected’ short film competition organized by WWF. He also produced other films, one of which "Heaven is Black" received critical acclaim, winning the Audience Choice Award at the Toronto Nepali Film Festival and receiving a special jury mention at the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF).

After graduating from film school, Nimesh worked as a freelancer, but he was not satisfied with the status quo and decided to co-found Fun Revolution TV along with Anish Jung Thapa, a YouTube-based channel. He believed that YouTube could contribute a lot to Nepali filmmakers by providing a platform to test their knowledge and skills before entering the big industry. Fun Revolution TV has been producing short films since 2017, where Nimesh mostly directs and features as an artist in those short films. He and his Fun Revolution TV team are looking forward to creating impactful web series and cinema in the near future.
