UJJAL BASTAKOTI is a renowned award-winning cinematographer, photographer, and producer who has extensive experience working on a wide range of national and international films, TVCs, music videos, and documentaries.
Most recently, he served as the Director of Photography (DOP) for the film "LORI (Melancholy of my Mother's Lullabies)," which was selected to compete for the Short Film Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival 2022, and was awarded the Special Mention of the Jury. Additionally, he won the Best Cinematographer award for his feature film "Chiso Ashtray" at the National Independent Film Festival (NIFF) 2022. Furthermore, He is also the Cinematographer of "The Mountaineer" a documentary that won the National Geographic Adventurer of the Year 2016 award.
Since 2014, Ujjal has been actively sharing his expertise by conducting several workshops at various educational institutes and reputed organizations.
Currently, he holds the position of Head of Cinematography Department at Oscar International College, affiliated with Tribhuvan University.
