Aavash Upreti is a Kathmandu-based media composer and music scholar with a passion for film scoring and music production. He strives to add a unique taste to music and make it stand out by incorporating different elements and genres in his compositions. His perspective on music, "it won't exist until you make it," has resulted in creating music that goes beyond conventional methods.
He specializes in composing for visual media and is constantly learning about music and audio technicalities to create exceptional music. He has worked with various directors and producers on projects such as songs, web-series music, advertisement jingles, public service announcements (PSAs), and documentaries for foley, background score, sound design, and ADR, adding unique flavors to each project.
Aavash has collaborated with leading film production houses such as Jazz Production and Artmandu as a film composer and sound designer. He is also pursuing his dream of becoming an orchestral conductor and composer. Additionally, he works as a well-experienced location sound recordist for films and has a deep understanding of the technical and recording aspects of audio production.
He is a scholar at Kathmandu University, Department of Music, where he has studied world music, classical western music, ethnomusicology, music of South Asia, music of Nepal, music and society, aural training, advanced music theory, audio studio techniques, sociology and anthropology, and South Asian civilization.
Aavash incorporates various ideas of music production into sound design to create impactful sounds for the scenes. He aims to produce unique sounds, tone colors and background scores for his films by utilizing modulated samples and instruments that are electronically experimented with effects, influenced by both eastern and western classical music.
